The LSV Lech-Stahl refinement as part of the Max Aicher The group of companies has set itself the goal of the actively support climate neutrality by 2040. As a processor of the Low-carb steel from Bavaria (LOCAS) wins the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) is becoming increasingly important and creates transparency for the customers of the LSV.

The PCF is the established method for determining the climate impact of a product. During the entire life cycle of a product - from from the extraction of raw materials to recycling or disposal - arise climate-relevant impacts in the form of greenhouse gas emissions. The Product Carbon Footprint helps to identify these impacts, analyze and reduce with the right measures, if not even to avoid altogether. LSV benefits from the wide range of Value chain as part of Bavaria's largest recycling company and steel manufacturers. Because LOCAS also stands for steel, which has been produced for 50 years. on the electric steel route is produced in Bavaria in a resource-saving manner.

The verification body proTerra Environmental Protection and Managementberatung GmbH has confirmed the conformity of the methodology of calculations used by LSV with the requirements the standards DIN EN ISO 14064-3 and DIN EN ISO 14067 and the specifications of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG) for the balancing of Greenhouse gas emissions and the associated reporting system - successful and without deviations - confirmed.

The verification covers the following greenhouse gas-related activities of LSV:

  • Direct greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1), e.g. energy sources (e.g. natural gas, propane)
    • Vehicle fleet
    • Air conditioners

    • Purchase and use of electricity
  • Other indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 3), e.g.
    • Pre-chain steel
    • Downstream/upstream logistics, etc.

In the future, more and more customers will make environmentally conscious purchasing decisions From now on, a precise calculation can be made both on company level, as well as at the product level to the generated greenhouse gas emissions.
