Online marketplace for wind land expects more than 5,000 area checks for the full year 2024
The trend is clear: more and more land and forest owners are checking whether their land is suitable for leasing for wind power projects. Caeli Wind, the first online marketplace for wind sites, has already recorded over 1,000 site checks since the beginning of the quarter – a significant increase compared to previous quarters. Compared to the first half of the year, a doubling of area checks is expected for the second half of the year. This increase illustrates not only the growing interest in renewable energies, but also the increasing attractiveness of leasing wind land as a source of income. For the full year 2024, Caeli Wind expects more than 5,000 digital property inspections.
Caeli Wind enables land and forest owners to make a quick and non-binding assessment of whether their land is suitable for wind power projects. Factors such as distances to residential buildings, terrain heights or legal regulations are taken into account. "For many owners, it is a first orientation in a complex process," explains Heiko Bartels, Managing Director of Caeli Wind. "We want to offer an easy way to check your own property for wind power suitability."
Everything is becoming more digital – from feasibility analysis to successful lease agreements
In addition to potential analyses, Caeli Wind offers interested landowners support in the preparation and brokerage of their land. Suitable locations are presented to more than 70 project developers via the company's own auction platform. The resulting competition ensures fair lease conditions. In 2023, Caeli Wind initiated the planning and brokerage of a total of 173 wind turbines.
Record numbers reflect market movement
The strong growth in digital area checks is an indicator of the dynamics in the wind energy market. While an average of 300 areas per month were inspected on the Caeli Wind website in the first half of the year, the monthly average in the second half of the year is already 600 inspections. "The interest of the owners shows that the energy transition is becoming more and more tangible locally," emphasizes Bartels.
