Hamburg Commercial Bank and its predecessor institutions have been dealing with the topic of renewable energies for more than a quarter of a century. When many still considered the expansion of wind turbines on an industrial scale to be an unrealistic idea, we had already financed the first wind turbines in northern Germany. Even then, we were convinced of the opportunities offered by this type of energy generation – both from an economic and an ecological perspective. Nothing has changed in our assessment to this day. That is why we remain closely connected to the rapidly growing industry, which plays a central role in achieving global climate targets. In Europe, we are one of the leading financiers of renewable energies. We have long since expanded our focus from our German home market, which is still important to us, to neighbouring European countries. At the same time, we are also available for projects in other countries – especially in the Asian region there are interesting markets with continuously high annual growth ××××××××× support projects in the asset classes of onshore, offshore wind, solar and hydropower. Our financing solutions are based on a deep business understanding of our partners and their goals. In addition to working capital lines, short- and long-term project financing, liquidity management, we also offer various risk management products. We are also familiar with financing with market price risks. We also support our clients in the purchase and sale of projects and companies as well as in the search and negotiation of power purchase agreements for projects with market price risks. Manufacturers, project developers and investors rely on our high level of structuring and consulting expertise.
We know and understand the markets and their dynamics, which are characterized by technical, legal and structural changes. We regularly underpin our in-depth knowledge of the industry by publishing various studies on relevant future topics such as power purchase agreements (PPA), financing of wind energy projects with state export credit guarantees (ECA covers) or "Electricity Market Design 2.0". These industry studies regularly meet with a great response in the market. The financing of renewable energy projects is and will remain a growth area for Hamburg Commercial Bank. Our portfolio includes corporate client addresses and around 230 projects with a financing volume of more than 4.6 billion euros. The potential in this market is still great – as is the need to generate our energy sustainably and in the most climate-friendly way possible. With the possibility of implementing renewable energy almost everywhere in Europe without state subsidies, the industry has grown up. This creates new challenges and business models.
