The latest addition to the company's innovative product portfolio: RENOLIT CP – The corrosion protection film for wind turbines. The high-performance film is developed and distributed in cooperation with WP Energy (part of the WP Group).

"Foil instead of color"

RENOLIT CP is an efficient alternative to painting processes. With the corrosion protection film, steel and metal coatings on the tower of a wind turbine can be protected against corrosion for up to 10 years, which is confirmed by the ISO 12944-9 CX certification.

Wind turbines are inspected and checked for safety at least every four years. Especially in areas where there are gaps, but also at the sensitive flange areas and especially at the bolts, water can enter the tower - a breeding ground for corrosion. It is therefore advisable to apply RENOLIT CP as a preventive measure to prevent the ingress of corrosion in good time. This can save high costs that would be incurred in the case of major repairs.

Although all towers are provided with a protective coating ex works, if spalling or even slight damage occurs - for example due to weathering or impacts from the technicians' tools - the cost of sealing this damage with a new coating is comparatively very high.

The coating process with RENOLIT CP, on the other hand, requires only a few work steps: After the surface has been cleaned and the primer applied, the film can be applied. With a paint finish, three coats are often necessary for comparable protection, including the respective intermediate drying time. Thanks to only one drying time of the primer and the film as top coat, RENOLIT CP can be applied faster and independent of weather conditions. This allows for more flexible repairs, reduces plant downtimes and saves costs.

In addition, RENOLIT CP is environmentally friendly: the film does not produce any volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and due to the long durability of the corrosion protection system, hazardous waste and VOCs are significantly saved during the 10 years. This reduces harm to people and the environment as well as health risks. In addition, the dripping of paints or pollutants into water bodies is prevented.
