The Air Gap in OEM LPS leaves these turbines exposed to lightning and static attacks. The Grounding Problem manifests as Alarms 410, 426, 2106, 2118, 700. Without a continuous grounding path, lightning wreaks systemic havoc in the turbine, sometimes even cracking blade roots. Unable to easily discharge, static electricity accumulates on blades until it crosses the gap between blades and nacelle in high-voltage arcs, resulting in:
