Direct marketing with market premium
If you operate a plant for electricity generation from renewable energies (e.g. wind, solar, biogas or hydropower), you have the option of selling the electricity generated to direct marketers. According to the version of 1 August 2014 of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), plant operators benefit from higher revenues from subsidised direct marketing with a market premium than with the previous marketing variant via the grid operator.
The market premium is the difference in revenue between the market price for electricity and the previous EEG feed-in tariff for green electricity. It is compensated by the grid operator and includes a legally stipulated additional revenue. For example, for new biogas plants with an installed capacity of 500 kW or more, subsidised direct marketing has been the rule since 1 August 2014.
