USE

The ZEFIR series wind turbines are primarily intended for power supply systems outside the public power grid. As a rule, there is a rather low wind volume at these locations, so the turbines are equipped with a large rotor.

The wind turbines are also intended for grid-parallel operation or grid operation (with a corresponding inverter).

SAFETY SYSTEM

The safety of the ZEFIR series wind turbine is ensured by two independent emergency shutdown systems that work with the residual energy of the wind turbine, so that no additional energy is required. The system does not require a so-called "dumpload" (equivalent load). The emergency system is automatically activated as soon as the energy supply to the wind turbine is interrupted.

In the event of an emergency shutdown, the first system brings the rotor blade mechanism into a safe position. To do this, the force of the spinning main shaft is converted into mechanical energy and used to control the rotor blades in order to bring them into their stop position. This is a very simple, reliable technology that has been proven in long-term operation.

The second system consists of two independent disc brake calipers. Each caliper has enough torque to stop the rotor in an emergency. The tension comes from the band springs. In normal operation, a stepper motor keeps the brake open. In this state, the stepper motor requires a 24 V DC power supply. As soon as the power supply is interrupted, the braking system is automatically activated. Each brake caliper has its own microprocessor-controlled monitoring system with an electrical circuit to control brake pad wear.

 The emergency shutdown systems are activated in the following order, by:

 - Microprocessor-controlled control system of the plant

 - Separate electrical control system in case of overspeed of the rotor

  - Independent control system in case of generated overvoltage of the PM generator

  - by pressing the stop button on the control panel or the stop command via the  Internet (from your computer, mobile phone, etc. ...) or by disconnecting the system from the mains using the main switch

In normal operation, the speed limitation is monitored by the system control and the angle of attack of the rotor blades is controlled.

Wind turbines of the ZEFIR series are equipped with a lightning and fire protection device as standard.

REMOTE

The plant is equipped with the web-based remote monitoring and control system ZEFIR-SCADA, which provides the operator and the manufacturer with constant access to current and historical operating parameters. In addition to the possibility of remote shutdown and restart of the system, current weather data can be checked and various data can be called up for freely selectable periods of time. Thanks to state-of-the-art web technology, system access is possible from the desktop as well as from mobile phones or tablet PCs via the Internet. The security of the transmitted data is guaranteed by dynamic 256-bit security encryption.
