Siemens Wind Power GmbH & Co. KG

20097 Hamburg, Germany

Description

The German company Siemens is one of the world's most important technology companies, whose developments and achievements not only shape everyday life in a wide variety of areas, but also make it possible in the first place. As a responsible company, Siemens pursues the goal of enabling the use of emission-free energy sources in times of climate change and rising energy prices. To this end, the long-established company has developed efficient and reliable generator systems that are used in onshore and offshore wind turbines . These Siemens wind turbines occupy a leading position on the global market and are valued for their cost-effectiveness in various designs, especially the company's synchronous and asynchronous generators. Siemens also offers its customers gearless ring generators, which deliver excellent yields in the multi-megawatt class and, as an almost maintenance-free technology, are ideally suited for use in offshore wind farms. Thanks to frequency converters, variable speed operation is possible and is a guarantee for achieving optimum efficiency at fluctuating wind speeds.

Overview of all Siemens wind turbines

For the onshore sector, Siemens has developed wind turbines such as the SWT-1.0-54 model with a rotor diameter of 54 meters and a nominal output of 1 MW. The SWT-1.3-62 is about a third more powerful with a diameter of 62 meters. The nominal output increases significantly with the development of the SWT-2.3-82 and 2.3-82 VS models, while the SWT-2.3-93 is also suitable for use in offshore wind farms. Since larger rotor diameters allow more energy to be extracted from the wind, the SWT-2.3-101, SWT-2.3-101 DD and SWT-2.3-108 models followed, which, like their predecessors, have an asynchronous generator and are designed for 50 and 60 Hz networks. The SWT-2.3-113 turbine type, on the other hand, is equipped with a synchronous generator, while the SWT-2.5-108 can also be used offshore. This also applies to the models of the 3 MW turbine class, such as the SWT-3.0-101, SWT-3.0-108, SWT-3.0-113, SWT-3.6-107 and SWT-3.6-120. The SWT-4.0-130, SWT-6.0-120 and SWT-6.0-154 are significantly more powerful and therefore particularly suitable for offshore wind farms.
