Vattenfall Europe Windkraft GmbH

D-22297 Hamburg, Germany

Description

Vattenfall already produces around 3.4 terawatt hours (TWh) of climate-friendly electricity from wind energy with almost 900 turbines and can supply around one million households in Europe.

We focus equally on the use of onshore and offshore wind power in Northern and Central Europe. This is because this is where the best weather conditions prevail, as our existing plants in Sweden, Denmark, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Germany already show today. Currently, many wind farms in European countries are being planned or implemented, including the German large-scale offshore projects such as DanTysk and Sandbank as well as other projects in several German states. This is a building block in achieving our goal of doubling our generation capacity to around 8 terawatt hours by 2016.

Vattenfall is one of Europe's leading energy companies - with a focus on energy production and supply. Wind power is an essential part of the company's strategy to make its own energy generation climate-neutral by 2050. Vattenfall sees equally great potential in the expansion of onshore and offshore wind energy. With 836 MW of installed capacity, Vattenfall is the number two in the operation of offshore wind farms in Europe. In total, the company operates around 1,500 megawatts in its wind farms. In order to further promote the use of wind energy in Germany, Vattenfall Europe Windkraft GmbH was founded in Hamburg in 2009.
